Program Overview

At SSM Health, we’re committed to growing the next generation of health care professionals. We are proud to partner with a variety of non-profit organizations and colleges to support our Apprenticeship Program. Apprentices make significant contributions to our patient care and operational goals. 

Program Objectives 


  • Develop employability and technical skills by applying classroom and on the job learning
  • Make a difference by contributing to the health and safety of patients through direct care or indirectly through supportive services
  • Explore a specific career path and determine your future career goals
  • Earn an industry-recognized completion certificate

Youth Apprentice Program Opportunities

If you're at least 16 years of age and currently in high school with an interest in the health care field, SSM Health offers multiple career pathways (varies by state) including:

  • Care Partner (Nurse Aide)
  • Imaging Assistant
  • Lab Science Assistant
  • Medical Assistant
  • Medical Office Assistant
  • Optical Assistant
  • Pharmacy Assistant
  • Phlebotomy Assistant
  • Physical Therapy Aide

Oklahoma

  • Care Partner (Nurse Aide)
  • Medical Assistant
  • Phlebotomy Assistant






St. Louis

  • Care Partner  (Nurse Aide) 
  • Electrical Apprentice
  • Mechanical / HVAC Apprentice
  • Pharmacy Assistant
  • Phlebotomy Assistant

Adult Apprentice Program Opportunities

If you're a high school graduate with an interest in the health care field, SSM Health offers multiple career pathways (varies by state) including:

Wisconsin

Program Eligibility

  • Enrollment in related instruction (high school or post-secondary)
  • Youth Apprentices must be 16 years of age
  • Satisfactory academic performance in related instruction
  • Ability to meet work hour requirements
  • Reliable transportation
  • Completion of pre-requisite apprenticeship requirements prior to start date
  • Applicants for our Nurse Aide pathway must hold a current Certified Nurse Aide certification

Program Length

  • Annual recruitment cycle is February – May 
  • Programs are one-year or two-years in length, depending on local requirements 
  • Work hours average to 10 – 15 hours per week for Youth Apprentices and full-time for Adult Apprentices
